New Dawn Media is a bi-continental film and television production company based in Los Angeles and Lagos. We create premium films, series, and documentaries that reflect the depth, diversity, and imagination of the global Black experience – from Africa to the Americas, from the Caribbean to Europe, and throughout the diaspora.

Meet the Founder
Bayo Akinfemi
A quintessential multi-hyphenate; Bayo Akinfemi is a filmmaker, actor, director, producer, and educator whose work bridges continents and amplifies the richness of global Black storytelling. Born in Nigeria and based in Los Angeles, he brings more than two decades of creative experience across Hollywood, Nollywood, and international theatre.
Bayo is best known for his work as a series regular and cultural consultant on the acclaimed CBS/Warner Bros. comedy Bob ❤️ Abishola, where he also directed multiple episodes. His career includes directing and assistant directing on major studio productions, performing extensively on stage and screen, and shaping emerging talent as an Assistant Professor at the USC School of Dramatic Arts and School of Cinematic Arts.
A graduate of the University of Ilorin, Toronto Film School, and USC’s Master’s program, Bayo’s creative vision is deeply informed by his cross-cultural background and commitment to stories that uplift, challenge, and inspire.
As the founder of New Dawn Media, he leads a company dedicated to producing bold, authentic films, series, and documentaries that reflect the depth and diversity of Black lives across Africa and the diaspora.
